The Outside Inside Game

Here is a picture of me OUTSIDE of my new house.

Here is a picture of me INSIDE my new house and this is a picture of my baby from the OUTSIDE. Notice my cute new haircut?

This is a picture of the baby INSIDE me. This one needs a bit of explanation... The blob on the left is baby's head. Imagine he/she is lying on his/her back looking up and the picture is taken from the side. Do you see the nose and mouth. We didn't get very good shots to choose from, but the live show was amazing, watching the baby move around, stretch, yawn, and even wave hello. I guess we'll have to wait a few more months to find out what this baby really looks like.

Reconnected

Yeah! We have successfully moved to our new house. Things are slowly getting back to normal. Although now that we have phone, internet, and cable again the work process may slow down. We had a restful weekend in Winnipeg where we went to a wedding and now it's back to work during the day and unpacking in the evenings. We are so happy with the new place, we have so much space right now and even the bus commute in to work doesn't seem so bad.

Today is my sister, Michelle's, birthday. Why don't you check out her blog and read all about her cutie kids?

Disconnected

Well moving day is fast approaching for us. So far I am feeling calm and excited. I thought I'd be feeling stressed and sad about leaving our old house. Most boxes are packed, all our utilities will be transferred, the movers are confirmed, we've been to the bank and to the lawyers, and everything looks to be in place for a smooth move (famous last words, right?)

The one downside is that today we will be (gasp!) disconnecting our computer and we will not have our internet hooked up again until August 9th. So it may seem as though I've fallen off the face of the earth for awhile, but I will be back... I promise!

Missed a Few Updates

Well, I guess I don't have the greatest blog etiquette. I've missed a few key updates recently.

First off Andrew and I celebrated our second anniversary on July 17th. This was us two years ago...

This is us now...

For those of you I haven't seen in awhile, I am starting to really look pregnant. Here is a nice shot of my belly. Although that picture was taken AFTER we went out for our anniversary supper.

And we have sold our house. I know I panicked and stressed about it while it was on the market, but looking back the whole process was pretty painless. The new owners move in on August 4 and we plan to be in our new place on the first. I'm sure many tears will be shed when I actually have to move, but I am really looking forward to it.

I made a trip to Regina a few weeks back and had such a good time. I got to spend time with my parents, my brother and sister and her whole family. The little guys are growing up so quickly. I also went shopping with my mom, watched a movie, met my girlfriends for breakfast, and slept alot.

Here is a list of things I've learned over the past few weeks:
1. I married a really great guy. Andrew has really been great over the last few months... cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, packing, dealing with lawyers/realtors/banks/insurance guys etc, all so that I don't have to.
2. I finally found my core and am able to lift my abdomen (from the inside!) while exhaling! This was learned at Pilates - not on my own!
3. Virgin Caesars taste just as good as the real thing.
4. Liquor stores don't sell non-alcoholic wine.
5. As I've been packing, I realize I have alot of stuff.
6. I get annoyed easily, especially if I am asking you to transfer my house alarm (or cable, or phone, or gas, or power) to my new home.

Pilates

I had my first Pilates class tonight and I was really nervous to go... would everyone be really snobby? would everyone be really good at pilates? would everyone wonder if I was even pregnant? Well, I really had nothing to worry about. Nobody knew anybody else there, no one had a lot of Pilates experience, and although I think I'm the least furthest along, only a couple of the girls really 'look' pregnant.

I'm still not sure I understand how to 'raise my abdomen' or 'feel my core', but I really enjoyed the class. I got to meet some really nice moms to be. And most importantly, I feel like I'm doing something good for me and the baby.

I can't wait until next Tuesday!

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

I have some great news to share...

The hidden journaling gives the answer!!

I'm due on January 7th! Andrew and I are so excited, we can hardly wait. We also just bought a new house that we'll be moving into later this summer.

Flashback Friday

Today, as we placed an offer on a new home, I'm reminded of nearly 3 years ago to the day that we bought our condo. It was the first place that we owned and I was so scared. It seemed like such a huge decision. It turned out to be a great decision, we have loved living in our "cozy" downtown abode. We're close to lots of bars, restaurants, and shops not to mention just a short walk to work.

I'm going to miss our first home (especially while I'm on the bus on my way to work!). But I'm sure our next home will be full of happy memories too!

It's been a long time...

Well it's been nearly a month since my last blog, I'm not sure if anyone is even checking here anymore. I won't even try to catch up, but here's what I've been up to this week:
  • deadline after deadline at work :(
  • hosting a couple of French exchange students while they are touring Western Canada
  • having a quick visit with the inlaws who were on their way to Radium from Winnipeg
  • helping my friend make invitations to her husband's Police Academy graduation (anything for the men in blue)
  • house hunting - went to see 7 houses last night and 6 tonight.
  • planning 2 separate book club meetings
  • really getting into the first Outlander book
  • wishing a happy birthday to a very special 3 year old
  • packing to go away for the weekend (OK I haven't done that yet - must go)

Flashback Friday

Back when I graduated from university (6 long years ago), I took a trip to Europe. I didn't have anyone to go with, so I booked with Contiki and I'm so glad I did. For those who don't know, Contiki is a tour operator specializing in tours for young folks (age 18-35) and from my experience mostly singles. It was such a great way to see Europe and to get a flavour for lots of countries - 10 in 1 month! I met alot of great people on the tour, many that I stayed in touch with for years after. It was a great time of my life, the short amount of time between school and work. I think I must have been alot braver then, because I can't imagine going on a trip with 50 strangers now, but at the time it seemed like the only logical choice.

When I got back from my trip, I had about 20 rolls of film (yes rolls, this was 6 years ago) and it was then that I decided to start scrapbooking. So even though it is quite embarassing, this is a page from my very first album, which I think I completed in just a couple weeks! I flipped through it just the other day and even though my style has changed alot since then, I'm glad I took the time to journal and document the details as much as I did.

Just Another Day at The Office

Well not really.... all last week I was on a Geology for Engineers course. Kind of like 'Rocks for Jocks' but more like 'Rocks for Nerds' ;) It's part of my job that I really like, the getting out of the office to learn new things. Most of the week was spent in a cramped classroom looking as slides of rocks from far away and then close up, but then on Friday we boarded a bus and went out to the mountains to see first hand what we had been talking about all week and to see what we work with on a daily basis (several hundred meters below ground) would actually look like.

Flashback Friday

OK, so I'm a day late!

I found the tapes that my Mom had made a few years back of me and my sibs as kids (around 1 year old). I realized a few things:
1. My oldest nephew is the spitting image of his mom.
2. Although my sister and I look alike, her kids bear absolutely no resemblence to me.
3. I was a very cute baby, with very big cheeks (and still my sister's kids look nothing like me).
4. I tried to put everything in my mouth as a toddler (some things never change!)
5. My brother loved being in front of the camera. He was a real performer.
6. My brother's clothes from 1984 have not gone out of style, very cute then, very cute now.
7. My sister is one fine dancer ;)

Good Week

So far, I am having a pretty good week. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a few good things here and there.

I completed the 12 layout in 1 night (weekend) challenge. Check out my gallery. It was so much fun and a great way to immerse myself back in the scrapbooking world. It was great to see what my sister and Susie came up with as well.

On Sunday we got to go to the hockey game. The crowd was amazing (and yes we remembered to wear red!) and so excited. The Flames did lose the game, but it was still very exciting to be there.

On Monday I had a book club meeting and there was a great turnout. It usually turns into a gossip session catching up on everyone's new jobs, new relationships, new homes, and a little bit about some book we read. I also took a look at my dreaded tax return on Monday and found one teeny little number that I missed on the first go around. It changed from me owing money to getting quite a bit back (YEAH!).

Yesterday, we went over to one of our couple friend's home to watch the hockey game on TV. It was great because I hadn't seen that gang of friends for quite awhile and we always have a great time. This time, our Flames did win, so everyone was in a good mood.

And that's been my week so far.

Flashback Friday

Well today was the first game of hockey playoffs. Things get really crazy here in Calgary. It seems as though the city shuts down. Nobody follows their regular routines, it's all about getting together with friends at someone's house or at a bar to watch the game. It doesn't matter if it's a week night or a weekend, it's all the same. Listening to people cheer in the neighbourhood and living only two blocks from the Red Mile make this time of year especially exciting for us. Tickets to actually see a game live are nearly impossible to come by. My flashback today is from 2 years ago when we were lucky enough to get tickets to a Flames game in the Stanley Cup final.
