A Taste of My Own Medicine

A few more "gems" from Maya....

As I'm trying to get lunch organized and Ian into his highchair
Maya: Mommy, I want to put stickers on your feet.
Me: OK, but hurry up. I need to get Ian ready for lunch.
Maya: Mommy, you need to be more patient.

On a beautiful sunny afternoon
Me: Maya, let's go to the park.
Maya: Sorry sweetie, not today.

I was reminded of this one from back in the fall. Maya had come with me to most of my prenatal appointments where all the doctors at the clinic are female. When we were taking Ian for his 4 month check-up, we had a conversation that went like this...
Me: We have to take Ian to see Dr. Holder for a check-up.
Maya: Is Dr. Holder a boy or a girl?
Me: Dr. Holder is a boy.
Maya (with an astonished voice): Mommy, boys can be doctors too?
Me: Yes Maya, if they work really hard, even boys can be doctors. Hee Hee!

Ian at 7 months

Ian, today you are 7 months old! You are such a beautiful and happy baby. Here are a few things I don't want to forget about you at this age...

you weigh: 23 lbs

you wear: size 12 months and size 3 diapers

your eyes: are not quite brown yet

you have: 4 very sharp teeth

your favourite toy: Sophie the giraffe and almost anything that you can put in your mouth

you can: sit up on your own, hold a toy in each hand and bang them together, reach for toys

you like: to bounce

you eat: mushy cereal, veggies, meat, and just recently a few fruits

you sleep: 3 times during the day and NOT through the night (but we're working on it!)

you laugh: when you are tickled or when you watch your sister play

I can't get over what a good baby you are. We take you everywhere and you never complain. You adapt to any situation. We love having you in our family and I'm pretty sure you love us too!

8 on Tuesday - can't think of 10!

1. I really need to download pictures from our camera... so no new pictures to share today.
2. Maya had her first class of unparented gymnastics. She did so well and exceeded my expectations. I am so proud of my little girl.
3. Maya wanted to go to Tim Horton's for lunch after gymnastics. I agreed as long as we could find a drive thru since Ian was sleeping. Thanks to the GPS, we went to 4 different TH, none with a drive thru. By then Ian was awake, so we drove back to our local TH and had a yummy lunch.
4. Biggest Loser starts tonight.
5. Prep work for Maya's birthday party has started. Rice Krispie log is made and oreo cookies are started.
6. I have a busy day of shopping tomorrow.
7. Tomorrow is daycare day for Maya.
8. So far, our first week of "back to normal" is going well.

6. Taking Maya and her cousins to It's a Blast and meeting up with friends too
7. Getting my own iPod
8. Eating way too much
9. Spending New Year's Eve at the cabin with great friends who brought yummy food
10. Trying raclette for the first time

Flashback

December 20, 2004
This was our first Christmas together after we got married. We were travelling to Regina for Christmas and so we celebrated our own Christmas at home early, just the two of us. I cooked a whole turkey dinner and even made a cheesecake for dessert! We used the good china and drank a bottle of wine from our wedding. Wow! Have things ever changed in the last 5 years.
